(Also applies to v. 2.2.8):? I accidently commented out the following line in my "feel" file.? This line causes one to be able to click one of the titlebar buttons to iconify the window. Mouse 0???????? I?????? A?????? Function "Move-or-Iconify" This causes AS to HARD LOCK with the mouse-curser becoming a vertical up-arrow when iconifying/deiconifying a window with the titlebar button!!!!!!!? Are you running the EXACT same setup under 2.2.9 that you had under 2.2.8? One reason that startup time takes so long is simply because there are more images there to convert. Do you need all of the images in Pictures? Try eliminating packages from your distro that add unwanted or unneeded images. I seem to remember a command to disable image previews, but can't remember the syntax. "Sometimes I remember to forget". Instructions for YUM installation can be found at: http://www.afterstep.org/download.php?show=RPMS As usual, these Fedora 11 and 12 RPMS can be found at: ftp://ftp.afterstep.org/stable/rpms/RPMS/fc/11/x86_64 ftp://ftp.afterstep.org/stable/rpms/RPMS/fc/11/i386 ftp://ftp.afterstep.org/stable/rpms/RPMS/fc/12/x86_64 ftp://ftp.afterstep.org/stable/rpms/RPMS/fc/12/i386 Source RPMS that should work with most versions of Fedora (Core 3+) and other distros can be found at: ftp://ftp.afterstep.org/stable/rpms/SRPMS Feedback via the AfterStep User Mailing List is appreciated. Fedora 11 and 12 AppletRPMS Notes: Fedora 12 - Overall -------- Very slick install! A YUM plugin called "Presto" is a treat; it only downloads the changes between package updates. Some update sessions only take a fraction of download time and size (as little as 25%, or even less). This of course can vary depending on the amount of changes; significant changes entail download whole packages. Overall, a nice treat. My only gripe is that Fedora 12 sets i686 as a minimum architecture rather than the i586 architecture under Fedora 11. Some folks still run VIA C3 processors out there, but not apparently enough. VIA C7 and Nano processors will work fine. VIA C3 mini boards make nice little home servers, sitting hidden away in a corner or op high on a shelf. Fedora 12 is an outstanding distro and a welcome install on both my Pentium III (formerly VIA C3) and AMD X2 boxes (boxen?). Fedora 11 -------- Almost as good as Fedora 12. I'd recommend the upgrade to fc12. I've upgraded my two machines, and saved the fc11 RPMS to the repo. At this point, most of the packages are at the same revision as the fc12 packages; the only notable exception is fotoxx. I had to make some minor compatibility tweaks from the fc11 .src.rpm files to get them working under fc12. AfterStep 2.2.9 -------- The AS 2.2.9-4 is current with CVS; 2.2.9 had some significant issues with more current versions of glibc. It should be as stable or more stable than 2.2.8. wmsorsen -------- Ralf Hoffman, the author of Worker, also has an Applet listed on his webpage (http://www.boomerangsworld.de/cms/dockapps/wmsorsen/?lang=en) called wmsorsen. It didn't work with lm_sensors 3.0+. I nervously sent him an e-mail explaining this, not expecting to get a reply. He not only replied, but in less than three days had a revised, fully functional version ready for download! Kudos to Ralf. Wmsorsen is a nice CPU and fan sensor applet; it and wmcpum.app are the only applets in the AppletRPMS arsenal that will work with lm_sensors 3.0+. libdockapp -------- libdockapp has been added to Fedora 11 and 12 repositories. That, along with libical, parcellite, and stalonetray, makes my life much easier. I see no reason to include it in the Applets-RPMS repo at this time. Temperature.app -------- No clue what's up with this, but it fails to build. It's probably a gcc issue (newer versions seem less forgiving on older apps). This is a nice, read-able, and simple Applet. Too bad. About the AfterStep Applets Repository: -------- This repository contains AfterStep, rxvt-unicode and over 60 Wharf/Dockapps for use with AfterStep and WindowMaker. In addition, there are some added utilities that work well under AfterStep. Temperature.app DOES work. That's what I get for using an old message as a template. Nice applet. Builds fine. Forgive me for the bad gouge.
